Spiders

Easily recognized by their morphological structure – having eight legs and the body divided into two sections –, spiders are amongst the most common and diverse arachnids. Even though they are not the only arachnids that produce silk, spiders are the most common ones, being, however, the only group that build webs – silk traps weaved in different shapes and sizes. In addition to being used to handle food and as a sensory and motor organ, male pedipalps also play a reproductive role.
